During the 2020/2021 Scouting year, Maynard Troop 130 proudly welcomed four new Eagle Scouts to our ranks: Vincent Boothroyd, Alonso Moreno, Nick Kells and Finn Bouley. Their projects have made lasting contributions to the town of Maynard and have brought honor to the Troop.
Well done, gentlemen, and our very best wishes to all of you in your future endeavors.

Maynard Troop 130's Spring Electronics Recycling & Bottle and Can Drive on Saturday, April 10 was a great success, quite possibly the biggest ever.
We had three trucks-worth of electronic recycling items, while the bottles and cans completely over-filled the large truck sent to pick them up. Two adult leaders carried the overflow to Waltham in their vans. It was a truly special day for Troop 130. Scouts, parents and adult leaders turned up in large numbers to help with the manual labor of sorting and bagging returnables and doing home pickups for electronic items. Seeing so many of our friends, family and neighbors come by with their donations brought home what a wonderful community we live in and serve, and we are deeply grateful for all of you. This is our largest fund-raising event of the year, and the funds collected go towards providing the troop with much-needed equipment as well as providing opportunities for scouts to go on weekend trips, to Summer Camp and to attend High Adventure expeditions. 24 October 2020 -- Today, Maynard Troop 130 held its biannual Electronics and Bottle & Can Recycling event. These are the troops most important fundraising events, and thanks to the kind donations of folks from our community and surrounding towns, it was our most successful such event ever. In addition to being a service to the community, it provides much-needed funds to help keep the Troop going, including providing scholarships to Scouts to help with membership costs and trip expenses.
Our sincerest thanks to all of you, and we look very much forward to seeing you again in the Spring when -- circumstances permitting -- we will again be in the parking lot across from St. Bridget's Catholic Church waiting to collect your bottles, cans and donations. Our nation's struggle with Coronavirus and COVID-19 is on-going, and guidance from the State of Massachusetts and the regional and national Scouting organizations could change at any time, but for now, Maynard Troop 130 carries on.
We are still holding weekly meetings, an uncommon opportunity for boys to socialize, learn and work together while strictly observing safety protocols. While weather and daylight permits, we are holding meetings outdoors at the Maynard Rod & Gun Club. You may see our Scouts around town, working on projects to improve Maynard and serve its citizens. Just recently, prospective Eagle Scouts have lead the cleanup and restoration of a nature trail; installed street number signs on houses that lacked them, sanded and repainted the "Welcome to Maynard" signs that welcome visitors and much more. If you or your son are interested in Scouting, please do not hesitate to contact us; we are always ready to welcome new members. Our email address is [email protected]. Important Reminder – Troop Meeting Location Is Now at the Maynard Rod & Gun. Just a reminder that starting tonight Tuesday, January 3, 2017, the Troop now meets at our new home the Maynard Rod & Gun, 45 Old Mill Road. Meetings still start at 6:30 pm and end at 8:00 pm. For pick up and drop off purposes please drop your scout off in the upper, main parking lot of the Club and then loop around in that parking lot. For safety purposes we ask that no one drop off at the main door of the function hall and then drive around the building. Please remember that unlike the Union Congregational Church we are not the only ones using the building on Tuesday nights. There may be members using the lounge and indoor range and during warmer weather the outdoor ranges may also be in use. This is why we ask that no one drops off at the function hall’s main door and then drives around the back of the building. Also remember Old Mill Road is a very narrow road that may require you to pull over to let a vehicle pass you going the other way. The fifth point of the Scout Law is courteous. We ask that all drivers dropping off and picking up at the Rod and Gun Club set a positive example for the Scouts by being a courteous driver especially on Old Mill Road. |
