Congratulations to Joey R. on making Eagle Scout!

Troop 130 is so proud of Joey R., our newest Eagle Scout.

Fall Electronics and Recycling Drive

Troop 130's Bottle and Can and Electronics Recycling Drive is Saturday, October 25th. We will be at the Sudbury Street parking lot at Mill and Main (across from St. Bridget Church) from 8:30 to 12:30.

We will take care of all of your glass bottles and aluminum cans, and for a fee, we will recycle all of your electronic waste. Please note that we cannot take standard single-use alkaline batteries.

It's a great deal: clean up and clean out while supporting Maynard Troop 130.

Scouting is now for young people of all genders!

Some folks still call our organization Boy Scouts, and that's OK. Old habits die hard, but we want every child to have the chance to experience the adventures, learn the skills and enjoy the companionship of like-minded kids.

A scout will learn so many things. For example:
  • how to safely enjoy the outdoors and how to survive there if circumstances require it
  • applying first aid techniques to save a life
  • safe swimming and boating
  • an appreciation of the outdoors and how to navigate with a map and compass
  • camping and hiking while leaving no trace
  • how to become and keep physically fit
It's not just knots any more.
Also, and more importantly, scouts learn the values of the Scout Oath: a Scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.
Scouting also provides opportunities to develop and practice leadership skills that no other activity or organization can provide.
We have a weekend-long camping trip every month and weekly 90 minutes meetings.
